KnowMe answers your questions about recruiting and suggests what to say and how to interact with employers based on what they look for in candidates and what you're currently working on. The more you share with KnowMe, the more it can help you.
Therefore, we built this product with privacy in mind: we have specifically picked technology and third-party providers that keep your data in your control and on your computer. KnowMe is a private AI chat interface that lives and operates on your computer, next to your connected files, conversations, and personal information, and under your complete control.

## 1. Introduction
Interaction Systems, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the KnowMe Network desktop application ("KnowMe," "KnowMe Network," or the "Service") through Semester Finance Program ("SFP"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use KnowMe.
**Our Core Privacy Principle:** Your personal content stays on your device. We designed KnowMe so that your files, chat messages, and personal data remain under your control on your own computer. We only collect limited analytics to improve the Service.
By using KnowMe, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Information You Provide
We collect your email address and graduation year, which is required for account registration. Email is used sparingly for communication, and graduation year helps us better understand who our users are. This information is stored on our servers.
The files you add to your KnowMe folder are your choice to include, and they remain stored only on your device to personalize AI responses. Similarly, your chat messages are automatically saved but only on your device for conversation history. Your custom prompt and KnowMe memory are also stored only on your device to personalize AI responses.
The contents, names or paths associated with your files, chat messages, custom prompt and KnowMe memory are not stored on our server.
### 2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use KnowMe, we automatically collect certain technical information to understand how we can improve the quality of our Service.
We collect an auto-generated unique device ID to identify your installation. We track app usage patterns such as when you use the app, not what you do.
We also collect basic usage patterns such as which sources were used. For file type statistics, we collect file extensions (such as .pdf and .docx) and file sizes for compatibility analysis. Error logs capture error types without personal content for debugging purposes. We also collect the version of our software that you are running for support and updates.
### 2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies
KnowMe is a desktop application and does not use cookies. The application uses local caching for performance optimization, which remains entirely on your device.
We do not collect your IP address.

## 3. How We Use Your Information
### 3.1 Personalize Our Service
Your files and chat history are processed and indexed locally on your device and used to make AI responses more relevant and actionable. We use models from a small number of third party providers to make these documents searchable.
Your custom prompt and KnowMe memory are can be fully editable by you to tailor the personality and relevance to your preferences. We may in the future implement features to modify these files directly for your convenience, but your edits will always take priority.
### 3.2 Generate Responses
KnowMe uses large language models (LLMs) to generate summaries, insights, and conversational responses based on the information you share and the information gathered from the KnowMe Network.
### 3.3 Improve Our Service
We use your device ID to identify your installation. Your email is used for account management. Session events help us understand usage patterns. Query metadata is used for performance optimization. AI decision metrics help with feature improvement. Error logs are used for debugging and stability.
**We do not collect the content of your files.**
### 3.4 Provide Informed Advice
When you use the KnowMe Network feature, filtered search queries generated on your device are sent to our server to retrieve guidance from the parties you want to interact with (e.g., career guidance from employers). These queries are processed to provide relevant information while protecting your privacy.
Your files, chat history, custom prompt, and KnowMe memory may be processed locally to generate insights that help improve predictive capabilities and actionability of our suggestions.
### 3.5 What We Don't Do
We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy or if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or legal request from government authorities.
### 3.6 Future Sharing Features
We may introduce features that allow you to explicitly choose to share specific information with other KnowMe users (for example, sharing your resume with a potential employer). Any such sharing will require your explicit consent for each specific piece of information, only share with the specific party you approve, and be entirely optional.
We may introduce features that gather insights locally for use in population-level statistics. Any contribution to population-level statistics will be based inforation you choose to share. It will not be possible to personally identify you based on a population-level statistic.

## 4. Third-Party Services
We have specifically selected providers and technologies that keep your information local and private.
We work with a small number of third-party providers to help us deliver and improve our Service - like hosting our infrastructure and generating AI-powered insights and responses.
These providers may have access to certain personal or non-personal information, but only strictly as needed to perform their services on our behalf.
When you use a feature that relies on an LLM, the information you have provided (like specific files or preferences) will be shared with these providers. Per our agreements with model providers and through the technology we have selected:
- Your data is not used for AI training.
- We do not store data on our servers longer than absolutely necessary (basically instantaneous) to provide our Service.

## 5. Data Retention
### 5.1 Data on Your Device
Your chat history is retained until you uninstall KnowMe. To delete it, uninstall KnowMe. Your file data is retained until you remove the files from your KnowMe folder. To delete it, remove files from the KnowMe folder. Your custom prompt is retained until you delete it by deleting the file. Your KnowMe memory is retained until you delete it by deleting the file.
### 5.2 Data on Our Servers
Your email address is retained for up to 45 days after you request deletion. Your device ID is retained for up to 45 days after you request deletion. Usage analytics and error logs are retained as long as they are useful to improve our service.
### 5.3 Data with AI Providers
AI providers may retain data sent through their API for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, per their policies.
We specifically select providers and technologies that will not use data to train their models.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:

You can manage much of your information directly within the folder on your device or by deleting the application. For any data you cannot manage directly, or to request deletion of your account, you may contact us.

You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by using the unsubscribe link within each email. We will still send you transactional or administrative messages related to your account.

We implement the following security measures.
Data on your device is protected by your device's security. Communications with our servers are encrypted in transit using insdustry-standard TLS/SSL (HTTPS). Communications with AI providers are encrypted using HTTPS. Server authentication requires an API key for all requests. Server access is restricted to authorized personnel only.

Note that data on your device is under your control (uninstall or delete files). Aggregated, anonymized analytics may be retained as they do not identify you.
### Right to Correct
For local data, you can edit your files, custom prompt, and KnowMe memory at any time. For server data, contact us to correct your email address.
### Right to Opt-Out of Sale
We do not sell your personal information.
### No Opt-Out for Analytics
The Service does not currently offer an opt-out mechanism for analytics collection. Analytics are essential for us to improve the Service and do not include your personal content.

## Summary: Where Your Data Lives
Your files, chat, and memory are stored on your device and only you can access them. Your email, graduation year, and device ID are stored on our servers and can be accessed by you (via request) and us. Your query content is temporarily held by AI providers for 30 days and accessed by the AI provider only. Usage analytics are stored on our servers and accessed by us in aggregated form.
**Your personal content never leaves your device.** We only see anonymous usage patterns to improve KnowMe.

Services are provided free of charge unless we explicitly inform you otherwise. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or subscription tiers in the future.

## 13. Limitation of Liability
